THI bids farewell to graduates and honours outstanding achievements

On Friday, 2 December, the Academic Celebration of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt took place in Saturn Arena. Around 1,800 guests enjoyed an atmospheric celebration.

At its Academic Ceremony, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) said goodbye to the more than 1,000 graduates of the winter semester 2021/22 and summer semester 2022. For the first time since 2019, the ceremony was once again able to take place on a large scale at the Saturn Arena in Ingolstadt.

THI President Prof. Dr. Walter Schober welcomed the graduates and their escorts and gave them the following advice in his speech: "With your degree from THI, you are excellently qualified for the job market and for life. Use these tools to shape a future worth living. I wish you every success in this endeavour".

Dr. Jonas Lausch, who completed his academic career from bachelor's to doctorate at THI, encouraged the graduates to remain curious after their studies: "Research new technologies, develop products or lead projects. Most importantly, never lose the fun in what you do!" The event was moderated by two THI Business School graduates. Nina Kummer and Quynh Ha skilfully guided the audience through the ceremony. The Academic Ceremony was accompanied musically and artistically by Base Squad, the professional show dance crew of the Basement dance school led by choreographer Tami Holischka, as well as by THI student and musician Ricardo Barreira and the dance group United. During the Academic Ceremony, outstanding achievements of THI graduates were also honoured with awards. The award winners were introduced in short film sequences in which they presented themselves and the topic of their excellent thesis before they were presented with the award by the laudators and sponsors (City of Ingolstadt, Audi Environmental Foundation, Lions Club Ingolstadt, Sparkasse Ingolstadt-Eichstätt, Friends of the THI).

In addition to the prize for the best Bachelor's and Master's degree and the best doctorate, outstanding theses related to sustainability, digitalisation, entrepreneurship and internationalisation were also recognised. The design exhibition "The other side of design. Anton Stankowski and the Next Generation" under the direction of Prof. Ingrid Stahl and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Rothbucher. The DAAD prize for an outstanding achievement by foreign students was awarded to Zübeyir Oflaz from the Master's programme "Engineering and Management".

Following the graduation ceremony, Saturn Arena was transformed into a party area. Under the motto "THI dances", around 2,500 people celebrated on the covered ice rink until the early hours of the morning.
