Prof. Stummeyer as an expert in the daily newspaper DIE WELT

"E-commerce is a growing market - even and especially in times of Corona," says Prof. Dr. Christian Stummeyer, Professor of Business Informatics and Digital Commerce at THI Business School, in the April 15 edition of the daily newspaper DIE WELT. As an expert, he provides information in an article about current trends in the e-commerce sector and analyzes the digital sales strategies of successful online retailers. In the future, for example, the trend will be toward social marketing, i.e. marketing and selling products on social media platforms that customers use every day anyway. Voice commerce is another topic that online retailers will have to adapt to, according to Stummeyer. By this he means sales strategies that target voice assistants such as Apple's "Siri" or Amazon's "Alexa."

In a second article in the same issue, he also emphasizes that sustainability is playing an increasingly important role for customers. Stummeyer therefore sees a need for action on the part of online retailers, particularly with regard to packaging materials, which should be recyclable and more environmentally friendly. Besides, he has identified another trend: moving away from pure ownership to sharing and borrowing. The first start-ups are already offering high-quality technical equipment for rent, for example.

Both articles appeared in the April 15, 2021 print edition of DIE WELT newspaper.
