Digital signage in the car dealership

Digital Signage inside the showroom of a car dealership

It's still just a photomontage, but if the students' plans are anything to go by, this is how it could soon look at the car dealership. Photo: private / Photomontage: THI

A digital display panel assigns the designated parking space. The next board informs about the provision of a replacement or rental car. Waiting times are shortened by further digital advertising boards with information, entertainment offers or tips on snacks and the like - a service appointment at the car dealership could run like this or something similar, if it's up to students of the Digital Business course at THI Business School. They developed the concept in the Digital Signage specialization module.

First, the students created a user story of the underlying process for the course of a service appointment, where customers bring their vehicle to the workshop and pick it up again. They also incorporated technical aspects into the solution concept, such as the data-related integration of the dealership IT systems. The students also designed graphical aspects such as a style guide for presenting the information.

The dealership benefits in several ways: For example, the sequence of service orders and the locations of the corresponding cars could be made transparent for the staff on digital signage stations. At the same time, the concept makes it possible to draw the customers' attention to other offers and to retain their loyalty.

The project was supervised by lecturers Wolfgang Vogt and Anton Kramm from Valial GmbH together with the "Autohaus an der B13" in Brautlach.
