German-Brazilian Academic Project Applied Network on Automotive Research and Education (AWARE) at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt
In order to strengthen the teaching and research cooperation between the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) and Brazil, the THI is currently setting up a strategic partnership in the automotive field with its two Brazilian partner universities Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) and Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Thanks to a corresponding funding program from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the DAAD is enabling the long-term establishment of a new scientific network with the acronym AWARE - Applied Network on Automotive Research and Education. Partners from science, industry and politics are involved.
On the education side, specific exchange projects between students, researchers and guest speakers are being supported, as well as the establishment of bi-national automotive courses. Research activities are focusing on road safety as well as on future-oriented drive concepts such as biogenic fuels and electro-mobility. The international science project is closely linked to the research and test centre CARISSMA - Center of Automotive Research on Integrated Systems and Measurement Area recommended by the science council in 2010, which will also be dedicated to research on the subject of road safety in future. The guiding star of these activities is the “Vision Zero” programme, which has the long-term objective of achieving zero traffic fatalities.
