Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) has started the 2021 summer semester with 450 new students. THI President Prof. Dr. Walter Schober welcomed the freshmen digitally due to the current situation.

While the THI's Bachelor's degree programmes start mainly in the winter semester due to the Abitur examinations, all Master's degree programmes start in the summer semester. A total of 300 students began their studies there in 18 degree programmes. Most applications were received for the Master's programmes in Automotive and Production Engineering (640 applications), International Automotive Engineering (529 applications) and Industrial Engineering and Management (278 applications).

Almost 150 students started in the Bachelor's degree programmes. Most applications were for the degree programmes in Business Administration (177 applications), Industrial Engineering and Management (146 applications), Autonomous Vehicle Management Engineering (95 applications) and Energy Systems and Renewable Energies (70 applications).

Prof. Dr. Walter Schober: "We are pleased to welcome all new students to the start of the predominantly digital summer semester. The THI offers the best conditions for digital study, although we hope that the situation will ease in the current semester and we will be able to offer more face-to-face courses again."

Among the new students are also 24 exchange students from partner universities. Together with the international students in the English-language Bachelor's and Master's programmes, a total of over 100 international first-year students are starting the summer semester.

In the academic continuing education programme, 16 students began their part-time studies (Bachelor's and Master's); these were matched by 56 applications.

A total of 3306 applications were received for the summer semester at the THI.
