A model has been developed in association with the Chamber of Craft Trades for Munich and Upper Bavaria, by which students on this programme can additionally acquire the journeyman's certificate for the electrical trade. This training is offered in cooperation with a variety of firms.
Not only will students have a bachelor's degree, but they will also be entitled to an entry in the craftsmen's register, to run a craft trade business and to offer training.
The practical and study periods are coordinated to allow immediate practical application of the theoretical knowledge, resulting in a more thorough understanding of operational practice. The dual study programme is therefore aimed in particular at young management staff in medium-sized firms.
For information regarding placements, sample contracts with specifications of the content of a practical placement, and information on remuneration, please enquire with the Chamber of Craft Trades for Munich and Upper Bavaria (Handwerkskammer für München und Oberbayern).
The dual degree combines practical training elements in a company with the theoretical education provided by the university. There is a choice of either the joint model (academic study + vocational training) or the degree course with vocational experience (academic study + intense practical phases). There is an obvious advantage to students here: practically oriented academic study generally enables a particularly smooth transition from university to the world of work. What is more, the student usually receives financial remuneration from the company concerned.
